Summary

it didn't meet the literal brief of the book but on the other hand, it was a great expression of someone who tapped right into that vital, compassionate spark everyone possesses。 i will probably never be won to transcendental meditation itself but i don't think that was the point。also one of the better insights into lynch's film making techniques IMO it didn't meet the literal brief of the book but on the other hand, it was a great expression of someone who tapped right into that vital, compassionate spark everyone possesses。 i will probably never be won to transcendental meditation itself but i don't think that was the point。also one of the better insights into lynch's film making techniques IMO 。。。more

I love this man。I found this book to be incredibly inspiring and a good quick read。 Maybe when I get enough money I'll give TM a shot, it's just so expensive lolEither way, I think any artist can find something useful in here, plus it feels like David Lynch is telling you about things which is nice in its own way。 I love this man。I found this book to be incredibly inspiring and a good quick read。 Maybe when I get enough money I'll give TM a shot, it's just so expensive lolEither way, I think any artist can find something useful in here, plus it feels like David Lynch is telling you about things which is nice in its own way。 。。。more

Didn't love this one 。 。 。 some good insights into creativity, but wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be。 If you love David Lynch's work or you practice transcendental meditation you will probably really enjoy this, otherwise I would skip it。 Didn't love this one 。 。 。 some good insights into creativity, but wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be。 If you love David Lynch's work or you practice transcendental meditation you will probably really enjoy this, otherwise I would skip it。 。。。more

I picked up this book after I saw it in the local TM center。 David Lynch's advocacy of Transcendental Meditation was one of the reasons I started meditating。 This short book is broken into even shorter chapters (some no more than a sentence, none more than three pages) and provide a great introduction into what TM is, how it helps Lynch, and a bit of insight on his creative process。 Recommended for anyone who loves his films and/or has an interest in TM。 I picked up this book after I saw it in the local TM center。 David Lynch's advocacy of Transcendental Meditation was one of the reasons I started meditating。 This short book is broken into even shorter chapters (some no more than a sentence, none more than three pages) and provide a great introduction into what TM is, how it helps Lynch, and a bit of insight on his creative process。 Recommended for anyone who loves his films and/or has an interest in TM。 。。。more

This is a wonderful book about Transcendental Meditation for the artist, and reminds me how the first time I tried it, it was not only easy to dip into, it dramatically changed my life。 TM has helped my healing path and lessen the symptoms of C-PTSD, and enliven my creative process along the way。 I'm ready to reestablish my practice everyday after listening to Lynch talk about his own。 I recommend listening to the audio because the sounds in between the text and his voice narrating felt pretty g This is a wonderful book about Transcendental Meditation for the artist, and reminds me how the first time I tried it, it was not only easy to dip into, it dramatically changed my life。 TM has helped my healing path and lessen the symptoms of C-PTSD, and enliven my creative process along the way。 I'm ready to reestablish my practice everyday after listening to Lynch talk about his own。 I recommend listening to the audio because the sounds in between the text and his voice narrating felt pretty great :)。 The true artist, when regularly dipping into this practice, will be invincible。 I love reinforcing "the unified field" and feel that it is more important than ever to remember where our attention is, that becomes lively。 So why not enlightenment and bliss。。 "bliss is like a flack jacket!" it’s a protecting thing。 If you have enough bliss it is invincibility, and when these negative things we accumulate through life start lifting, then you can SEE。 The artist must hone her intuition and she MUST be able to SEE。 Then she can go and ask the ideas and receive them, start translating these ideas in one medium or another。 Nurture the place where strength and energy comes from。 I'm all in。 * I heard about this book through many references, but it wasn't until Yumi Sakugawa mentioned she was inspired by it in creating her "There is no one right way to meditate" after taking a class from her that I added it to my to read list。 I also felt very relieved to hear David's take on the mental landscape of the artist, and how suffering does not give us creativity (a horribly outdated romanticized stereotype that I have always resisted) https://www。youtube。com/watch?v=_VhKi。。。 。。。more

I’m on a mission to become good at making cocktails, and the drink I tried today (and drank as I listened to this) was a liiiittle stronger than anticipated。 So… maybe I would have a more cynical view if I was sober。 But honestly? David Lynch gets it。 I will listen to that man talk about anything。 Do I think meditation is the solution to most of the world’s problems? No。 Do I value core positivity? Absolutely。 Also just love the way my pal Dave talks about film (duhhhh)
